My first impression of this advertisement I thought was for Christmas as there is a turkey being cooked and a large list. However after researching I couldnt of been more wrong. This is actually an advertisement for a cooker thet is shown here, a cooker aimed at normal working class people.
Firstly, the long shopping list shown has on it all different countrys and their food for example for Ireland- 'Potatoes. Boiled, stewed, roasted, baked, mashed, raw.' This is supposed to big up America saying they give all these countrys food, that Ameica feeds the world and the list is what every country requests. Its done in quite a humerous way with the Earth. It is very unusual thought as the cooker is cut off the picture. But as all the people in this image are very upper class educated people with there slaves, Its kind of trying to say that we're successful because we own this stove from the uncle sam range and you will also be successful, like selling the dream.
The clock in the background says 1676 at top and 1776 at bottom, so its a celebration for Americas 100th birthday celebration. Also, everything in the image is blue, white and red, even the carpet with stars on it which is done to say how amazing America is.
